Parking day is a day in which designers around the world occupy parking spaces with unique and inspiring installations. As part of parking day 2018, my group of 5 proposed and assembled Constellation City. The concept was based on bringing something typical in the north, star gazing, to a place, it is usually not possible, the city. Sudbury’s downtown core can be hectic; people never make the time to slow down and think, enjoy, or imagine. Constellation City transforms a symbol of Sudbury’s fast-paced mentality, a parking spot, into a place in which one can take a moment to sit, relax, and contemplate, using daylight stars as a gateway to solace. The installation lasted 1 day and had several hundred visitors from around the city.
