The “Polar Express” Ice hut was designed using the concept of play. Keeping play in mind, our group decided to include a retractable slide, a climbing wall, as well as chalk paint surfaces to make the experience of ice fishing more appealing to children. The project was completed over the course of 2 months; one for design and one for construction. The ice hut was built using standard lumber while the slide was made using re-purposed puck board. The design garnered a bid of $2000 at a local business auction, and was featured in the Northern Times and CBC.
