This CAA charrette involved a proposal for Nunavik making use of the vast amount of objects in their local landfills. Rather than oblige by these guidelines the proposal looked to shipping containers that are sent North as a symbol of protest. Implementing temporary fixes by re-purposing old materials encourages communities to accept substandard conditions and only exacerbates the issue. The proposal looked at how an installation could create an impact by bringing awareness to the real issues that plague Northern communities, in order to enact real change. As a result, rather than imposing our own knowledge, we should consider how we can be less wasteful, raise awareness of the real issues and enact change.
